The original image was taken from a royalty free stock photo site.

Supplies you will need:

Paint Shop Pro (You can download a 30 day demo here)

Screen Works Filter (You can download it here. Unzip to your Plugins directory)

An ornamental ding of your choice.

Got everything? Great! Let's get started!

1. Open the image you want to frame. Duplicate it 2 times (Shift-D). Close your original, and minimize one of the copies. (We'll use that a bit later)

2. Set your background color to white. Images--> Add Border--> Symmetric-->10.  Using your magic wand , select the border.

3. Effects--> Plugins-->Screen Works--> Close Knit. (There are no settings for this plugin) Do NOT deselect.

4. Effects-->3D Effects-->Inner Bevel. Apply the settings below.  Do NOT deselect.

5.  Effects-->3D Effects-->Drop Shadow. Set Vertical & Horizontal to 1, Opacity to 100, Blur to 11.1 Repeat, but change your Verticlal & Horizontal to -(minus) 1. Select none. SAVE!

6. Open the duplicate image we minimized earlier, then click back on the image we have been working with to activate it.

7. Select a deep, complimentary color, and set it as your background. (I used #000080) Image-->Add Border-->Symmetric-->15.

8. Using your magic wand , select the border.

9. Click on the airbrush tool , and set it with the settings below.

10. In the Styles box, select Pattern for your foregrouns.    Select the duplicate image we opened in step 6, setting Scale to 100%, and Angle to 0.

11. Randomly spray your selected border until you have a pattern you like. Do NOT deselect. Your image should look something like this:

12. Effects-->Artistic Effects-->Brush Strokes. Use the settings below, or play around until you get an effect you like. Select none. SAVE!

13. Set your background color to white.  Images--> Add Border--> Symmetric-->10.  Using your magic wand , select the border.

14. Effects--> Plugins-->Screen Works--> Close Knit. Do NOT deselect.

15. Effects-->3D Effects-->Inner Bevel. Apply the same settings we used in Step 4. Do NOT deselect.

16. Effects-->3D Effects-->Drop Shadow. Set Vertical & Horizontal to 1, Opacity to 100, Blur to 11.1 Repeat, but change your Verticlal & Horizontal to -(minus) 1. Select none. SAVE!

17. Set your background color to the one we used previously. (I used #000080) Image-->Add Border-->Symmetric-->20.

18. Using your magic wand , select the border. Repeat steps 9, 11 and 12. (You should not need to repeat step 10, the settings we previously used should still be there.)

19. Set your background color to white.  Images--> Add Border--> Symmetric-->10.  Using your magic wand , select the border.

20. Effects--> Plugins-->Screen Works--> Close Knit. Do NOT deselect.

21. Effects-->3D Effects-->Inner Bevel. Apply the same settings we used in Step 4. Do NOT deselect.

22. Effects-->3D Effects-->Drop Shadow. Set Vertical & Horizontal to 1, Opacity to 100, Blur to 11.1 Repeat, but change your Verticlal & Horizontal to -(minus) 1. Select none. SAVE!

Still with me? Good, you're almost done!

23. Open the ornamental ding you downloaded before you started. Copy, then click on the image we've been working on. Paste as new layer.  (If you are using your own ding here, you will want to flood fill it with white, and apply the Effects-->Screen Works-->Close Knit effect. You may also want to apply Effects-->3d Effects-->Inner Bevel with our previous settings as well)

24. When you have the ornament where you want it, merge visible.  (If you've applied a corner ding, you can duplicate the corner you've just added by going to Layers-->Duplicate, then Image--> Mirror.  Next, go to Layers-->Duplicate, then Image-->Flip. Now, Layers-->Duplicate, then Image - Mirror.)

That's it! You're all done! I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial, and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
